Questions, answered.

Yes. Because KinoLight uses your phone’s camera to analyze the screen, it works with anything visible — Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Apple TV+, and any other built-in app or streaming stick.
Ambient makes all lights neutral white and adjusts their brightness to match the screen. Color gives all lights one representative screen color. Zones maps different parts of the screen to the corresponding lights or lightstrip sections for the most spatial detail.
Color Style controls saturation in Color and Zones modes. Cinematic produces softer, subtler colors. Natural keeps saturation closest to the detected screen colors. Vivid boosts saturation for a stronger effect. Color Style does not affect Ambient mode.
Responsiveness controls how quickly your lights react to changes on screen. Higher settings follow fast-moving scenes more closely. Lower settings create smoother, steadier transitions. Start with the highest setting, then lower it if the lighting feels too busy or distracting.
KinoLight requires an iPhone running iOS 18.5 or later, or a compatible Android phone running Android 12 or later, with a rear camera. Keep the phone facing your TV while syncing. Android camera support and performance vary by model, so we recommend trying KinoLight on your phone before purchasing.
KinoLight has been tested for 12 hours of continuous sync on iPhone 15 Pro. Enable screen dimming in Settings to reduce battery use.
Yes. Your phone’s camera needs a stable, unobstructed view of the TV screen during sync. A small dock, shelf, or mini tripod works perfectly.
The outline doesn’t need to be pixel-perfect. KinoLight samples and averages colors from areas along the screen edges, so a slight mismatch usually has little visible effect. If the outline is clearly misplaced or misses part of the TV, gently reposition the phone and hold it still. KinoLight will automatically clear the previous result and detect the screen again.
KinoLight supports Tuya-compatible lights, which includes many Smart Life and budget brands. Check compatibility for your specific lights in the app.
Screen-color analysis runs on your phone. If you enable optional Online TV detection, selected camera images are sent securely to Rimami’s service. Rimami does not save these images or use them for training. See our iOS privacy policy and Android privacy policy for details.
HDMI sync boxes sit in your cable chain and only work with HDMI sources. KinoLight uses your phone camera, works with everything on screen, and requires no extra hardware beyond the phone you already own.
Camera kits use a dedicated camera module permanently mounted to your TV. KinoLight uses your phone — no mounting, no drilling, no permanent setup.
Your phone needs to stay still and facing the TV during a session. It uses camera and CPU resources, so the phone shouldn’t be used for other tasks while syncing.

A one-time calibration is recommended for the best results. It only takes a few minutes and dramatically improves color accuracy and zone mapping.
